Please note: due to the extra thickness of the 3D varnish, it cannot be applied right to the edge of your cards, as it would crack when they are trimmed to size. The spot varnish, shown in the first example photo above, will still give your cards very decent height.

What is Flat Spot UV Varnish?
This is a flat coated glossy layer to certain parts of your design. It can be really effective if used on your logo or company name and logo.
What is 3D Raised Spot UV Varnish?
3D spot varnish is a specialized printing technique that adds a raised, glossy finish to specific areas of your business card. This process highlights certain elements, like your logo or brand name, creating a visually striking effect. The clear polymer coating is applied to selected areas of your design and then exposed to UV light, hardening it to create a smooth, durable finish. The result is a luxurious texture that catches the light and adds depth to your card, setting it apart from traditional flat-printed cards.
Do you have any suggestions as to where I should have varnish applied?
A common choice is to have your company’s logo and/or name be branded with spot varnish, as it’s the area that needs to have the most impact.
Spot varnish also works really well when applied to darker coloured backgrounds. The gloss contrasts with the matt finish of the lamination, so it’s often used as an impressive alternative to printing decorative elements.
Can I have my entire business card coated?
It’s certainly possible! We’d recommend only choosing certain elements of your card to have varnish applied to, though, as we have lamination options on our other business cards.

Supplying Your Own Design
Please supply your design as a PDF file, with 3mm bleed. Trim marks are optional.
Finished Size: 85mm x 55mm
Size with Bleed: 91mm x 61mm
Please allow a minimum 3mm safe-zone inside the trim line, which should contain no text or other critical elements.
Please ensure all fonts are embedded or text is converted to outlines/curves.

Spot Varnish
Please provide separate page/pages of your PDF, or separate PDF file/files, showing the exact area that you want the varnish applied to. Do this in a single colour (100% black is normally easiest). Ensure that the page size is set the same as for the printed parts of your design.
